Azalea Baptist was the dominant church team of the seventies.  Azalea competed for nine years from 1974 through 1982.  In that short time, they played in six Metro tournaments (winning three titles) and in five Regional tournaments (winning two).  They played in four National tournaments finishing as high as fifth in 1980.  They also played in over fifty local tournaments winning eight.  They played in many open tournaments against the better teams in the area.  Azalea Baptist also won five Norfolk City Church Championships.
