The Bay Skippers chose their name from the Chesapeake Bay skipjack boats.  They participated in many local tournaments from 1974 through 1987.  They won the 1978 Central Atlantic Regional tournament in Winchester and also placed seventh in the National Women’s Major tournament in Jacksonville, Florida that same year.  They were Metro Tournament Champions in 1978 and placed third in the Central Atlantic Regional tournament.  They traveled throughout the nation playing the best teams.
