Bill Bonds’ first love was youth softball.  He coached Junior Olympic teams for ten years from 1976 through 1987 with trips to the Metro tournament and Regional tournament.  Before the title was established, he was unofficially our first Youth Commissioner in 1976 and registered sixteen youth teams in our first youth tournament.  In 1988, he was officially appointed the Junior Olympic Commissioner and served two years.  He was also a voting member of the Central Atlantic Regional Council.  Upon his retirement, he registered over three hundred teams his last year.  Bill hosted the Junior Olympic National Coaching School in 1988, a first for our association.  Upon his untimely death, Commissioner Joe Baines selected Bill Bonds for induction into our Hall of Fame.
