Bobby had an outstanding career as an umpire and player. His longevity and statistics ranked him as one of the best in Tidewater. He started in 1962 and umpired for thirty-six years. Bobby umpired in three National tournaments, twenty Regional tournaments, and thirty-five Metro tournaments. In addition, he umpired over 1,000 tournaments which amounts to about 5,000 games. He was a member of the National Indicator Fraternity, a highly prestigious honor. In 1996, Bobby won the L.E. Beasley Award named after one of our Hall of Fame umpires. Bobby also played softball for over thirty years. |
