Carole McCraw Haymaker

Player

Inducted 2009

Carole first started her playing career in the Boys Baseball of Lynnhaven Bronco/Mustang Division. She has to challenge administration with Title 13 Law in order to have her opportunity to participate.

After playing in the Boys Baseball League and playing at Lynnhaven Middle School she continued her career playing at First Colonial High School excelling at 1st, 3rd and outfield on the school fast pitch team. Her junior year found her selected to the All Beach Team (Honorable Mention) as an outfielder and 1st Team All Beach at 3rd base hitting .407 her Senior year.

She attended Virginia Wesleyan College where she started at 3rd base and saw action at 1st base and outfield earning honors as All Dixie Conference with the highest team batting average and one of the top National averages at .478.

Carole was so athletic she was recruited and asked to play for the first women's soccer team at Wesleyan and was voted All Dixie Conference First Team Goal Keeper. This was quite an accomplishment when you consider that Carole had never played Soccer before.

Carole was always modest to her accomplishments and had the highest respect for the sport of Softball and the love of her teammates, friends and Family.

The SKY was the limit for Carole until her unfortunate and tragic passing in April 1995.
