Carolyn started playing softball in 1968 at the age of thirteen for the well-known Teen Wipeouts.  In 1972, at the age of sixteen, she played in the Co-Ed Metro Tournament and won the female MVP award.  In 1974, she made the Travelers’ Softball team and played with them until they folded in 1988.  At the time of her induction, she was still played after twenty-seven years.  She played in over fifteen Metro tournaments, six Regional tournaments and eleven National tournaments.  She won at least six MVP awards and made numerous All-Star teams.  Carolyn played every position at one time or another which made her invaluable to the teams she played for.
