Charles has over 30 years experience umpiring softball: 20 years of National Federation (High School) girl's fast pitch and 10 years of college fast pitch along with serving on the TVASA Executive Board for five (5) years.
In slow pitch Charles has worked all the local top tournaments including the Wyatt Newsome Classic, Memorial Red, White and Blue, Tidewater Championships , Regionals, Metros and 2 State Classification Championships.
He has worked fast pitch leagues in Chesapeake, Virginia Beach, Portsmouth and Suffolk. Tournaments include many local showcase tournaments along with National Qualifiers, College Showcases and Men's Class B State Tournament in 1994.
He has worked over 400 high school fast pitch games which include leagues, district playoffs, regional playoffs and Quarter, Semi and Final games for Virginia State Championships.
From 1997 - 2007 Charles umpired collegiate fast pitch games covering Division I and Division II along with the CIAA Conference.
