Charles ‘Chuck’ Dean contributed to softball in many ways in his thirty-four year career. He played in approximately 140 ASA tournaments from 1961 through 1989. Chuck played in six Metro tournaments and one Regional tournament. He was a manager for six years both in ASA and in the Norfolk City League. He was selected as the TVASA Manager of the Year in 1987 and 1988. When the TVASA Players’ Advisory Board was formed, Chuck served two years and contributed greatly. Chuck served as the TVASA photographer for eight years. Chuck Dean’s participation contributed greatly to the success of softball in Tidewater.
