Clyde Davis umpired for over thirty years, after having played professional baseball, semi-pro football and fast-pitch softball. In 1942, his team won the Virginia State ASA Championship. ‘Ducky,’ as many knew him, umpired in four difference decades (1940, 1950, 1960 and 1970) and officiated numerous State, District and local tournaments. Those who were involved with softball of this era knew him to be a conscientious and hard-working umpire - one admired and respected by all.
