Earl began his softball career in 1968. He averaged a .550 batting average and forty-five homeruns a year. In 1977, Earl was instrumental in leading his team (River Oaks Shell) to a thirteenth finish in the Class A National tournament in Richmond, Virginia. In 1978, he was voted the Outstanding Player in the C.A.C. tournament. In 1974, 1976, and 1977, Earl was voted MVP in several local tournaments here in Tidewater and was a four-time Metro League All-Star. |
