In 1981, Mr. Amos was asked to join the ASA family by sponsoring one softball team.  Since that time until his induction, Fred sponsored one or more teams each year.  His sponsorship was under the name of his Norfolk firm, Major Safety.  Fred put his stamp on ASA softball in Tidewater by allowing his teams to compete not only in the Norfolk and Portsmouth summer leagues, but also in the ASA Fall Leagues in Norfolk.  In addition, he provided backing that allowed the Major Safety teams to enter ten to twelve local tournaments each year.  Over the years, Fred’s Major Safety players won such tournaments as Red, White and Blue and the TVASA Hall of Fame Classic.  Fred Amos not only added his company’s name to TVASA softball, but also class in the way both he and his players handled themselves in tournaments and leagues.
