A lifetime resident of Tidewater who was part of the Talbot Park softball team that was inducted into the Tidewater ASA Hall of Fame in 1988.  Gabby, as he is known on the field, played in three ASA National tournaments in Iowa, Georgia and Oklahoma.  In 1983, he was on the Lynnhaven Lounge team that participated in the first National Class B tournament held in Long Island, New York.  A twenty-two year player, Gabby was named to three Tidewater ASA All-Star teams and selected by his teammates ten times as tournament Most Valuable Player.  As a .525 lifetime hitter, Gabby helped his teams over the years with his great glove on defense and ability to come up with the timely hit in the late innings.  Over the years, Gabby proved that the ‘little man’ had a part in the ‘big boys’ game.
