George was a man of many talents having been an umpire since 1978 and umpiring in two ASA National tournaments. He was a member of the 1971 ASA National Champions Indian Lake Piledrivers and was appointed the first Player Representative from Tideawater in 1978. In addition, George was appointed as the secretary for the Central Atlantic Region for 1980, was the head announcer for the 1977 Industrial National tournament and was a local ASA Commissioner. Additionally, George was a past president of Tidewater Virginia ASA (TVASA) and served as chairperson for the first three years of the TVASA Hall of Fame Committee. Other credits of George included TVASA Umpires’ Association ‘Rookie’ School Director, Umpire-At-Large for two years, Umpire-In-Chief of numerous tournaments and was the first person from Tidewater to have an article in the ASA national magazine, Balls and Strikes. . |
