Haywood sponsored the Virginia Beach Aces, a men’s slow-pitch softball team, from 1966 through 1990 for a total of twenty-four years.  In addition, he sponsored the Virginia Beach Aces, a women’s team, from 1982 through 1990 for a total of eight years.  During that time, Haywood’s teams played in over 150 local ASA tournaments.
