Henry started playing softball right out of high school in 1960. He started playing on the top level in 1963 and, in 1971, was a member of the National Champion Open Slow-Pitch Team. In his twenty years of competition, Henry never had a lower batting average than .520 and averaged forty homeruns a year. He won several Golden Glove Awards and was always considered one of the area’s top defensive players. In 1968, he was MVP in the C.A.C. Tournament. Henry played in five National tournaments and five Regional tournaments and, in his career, helped lead his teams to fifteen league titles, four State titles, and one National title.
