Jesse S. McCraw, Sr. started playing softball in 1950 and continued to play for forty years.  He started in fast-pitch at the age of fifteen.  Halfway through his career, he switched to slow-pitch.  He was an outstanding catcher and outfielder.  In fast-pitch, he batted .333 and, in slow-pitch, he batted .540.  Jessie sponsored and managed a women’s team for three years.  He also umpired high school fast-pitch and league play for ten years.
