Jim Thom Player Inducted 1999
Jim Thom started playing softball in 1972 with teams such as the Vikings and ILA. He quickly moved up to such teams as the 4400 Club, Friar Tucks, Liontamers and finished his career with Clancy’s and Holland Construction. He retired in 1992 after twenty-one years to become an umpire. During that time, he played in fifteen Metro tournaments, ten Regional tournaments, and several National tournaments. He averaged over one hundred homeruns per year with a lifetime batting average of .675 with twenty-one MVP awards. He was TVASA All-Star three times. In the five years prior to his induction, Jim served as a Deputy Umpire-In-Chief for TVASA. |
