Joe Walker

Inducted 1989

A part of Tidewater Virginia ASA softball since 1967, Joe was involved as a player, coach and Player Representative.  Joe was a player for some twenty-three years with teams like Woodhouse Electric, Pappa’s Pub, I-Tech and Donald’s - all of the Class B level where he helped his teams win the Metro tournament in 1984 and qualify for the Regional and Eastern Area tournaments.  In addition to Joe’s playing experience, he was on the local Players’ Advisory Board (PAB) since 1979.  In 1981, Joe was elected as the first chairperson of the PAB.  To add to these local credits, at the time of his induction, Joe had been Tidewater Player Representative to the Central Atlantic Region since 1982.  He was also the only local Player Representative to be elected two years in a row as National Player Representative.  During these years, Joe served on nine National committees, attended five Eastern Area meetings, nine Central Atlantic meetings and five National ASA Council meetings.
