John Bolling

John started playing softball in 1964 while attending Old Dominion University. He retired as an active player in 1980. During those years, he guided (pitched) his teams to a fifth-place finish in 1973, and a seventh-place finish in 1975 in the ASA Church National Tournament. John was the MVP in the 1973 Church Regional tournament in Hampton. In 1977, he was appointed Deputy Commissioner of Norfolk, before that already having served as Church League, Fall League, and Metro League Commissioner. John was most influential in organizing the Metro League and served as the first Metro League Commissioner. John served on the Special Fund Committee of TVASA and was the founder and editor of the official TVASA publication (Linedrive). |
