John has been involved with slow pitch softball in Tidewater since the early 80's. As a player, he has been known as a smart player who had a lifetime batting average of .600. His greatest accomplishments were achieved as a manager/coach for some of the top teams in Tidewater for over 20 years.

John's teams were Ivy Coaches, Serenity Lodge, Colonial Hospital, Saunders, Coastal Masonry and Superior Pest Control. They were dominating in the local scene winning numerous City Championships, playing in 18 Tidewater Championships winning 8, 16 State Titles, 3 regional Titles and 2 National Titles.

John had over 10 current Hall of Fame members play on his teams which is a testament to his ability to form solid teams that could advance deep into any Championship they chose to play.

John's reputation preceded him as sponsors trusted his character and judgment and knew that his team could bring great credit to their business and non-sense would not be tolerated. Sponsors knew their team, led by John, would be competitive, great sportsman and prideful.
