Joe participated in ASA for fourteen years from 1977 through 1991.  He played in three ASA National tournaments, was a part of fifty-three championship teams, and eight runner-up teams.  He was named Most Valuable Player ten times, Most Outstanding Player twice, and chosen for five All-Tidewater teams.  He carried a lifetime batting average of .550, homerun average of eight, and had over two hundred RBIs.  He played on teams in Class B, Class C, Class D, Industrial, Church, and 11-Inch.  He also worked as an ASA umpire and was ASA Deputy Commissioner.
