Karen started playing tournament softball at the age of 10. She played shortstop until the last 10 years where she moved to left-center field in Tidewater's top competitive Co-Ed League.

Her high school days were played at Bayside where she was All District each year as well as being selected a WAVY-TV 10 Athlete of the Week.

After high school she has been affiliated with 3 teams and they are all teams that have been selected into the Tidewater Softball Hall of Fame. She has played for the Sun-Devils, Superior Pest Control and Norfolk Olympia.

Karen has played in National Tournaments in 8 states; Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. Her teams have won numerous City and Tidewater Championships and she has been selected as Most Valuable Player on over 40 occasions.
