From 1967 to 1980, Leonard managed such teams as Robo’s, Ahab’s, River Oaks Shell and the Cambric Inn along with the Norfolk Merchants.  During the league and tournament seasons, Leonard’s teams won twenty-five tournament titles while finishing 2nd thirty-two times along with ten league titles while finishing with an overall record of 816 wins and only 199 losses.  Over the years, Leonard participated in four ASA Regional tournaments and two National tournaments in such areas as Richmond, Newport News, Tennessee, and North Carolina.  Leonard proved many things as a manager, but the one thing that he is best-known for is his ability to take an average ball player and mold them into a team.  They competed on any level without giving up ground to bigger and more experienced teams.  Some of the players Leonard worked with include Buck Stanton, Earl Barnes, Alton Todd, Larry Ward, and Sonny Bass.  At the time of his induction, he was living in Maryland.
