Linwood was a driving force in Tidewater for over thirty years as a player, umpire and manager.  As a manager, Linwood stood out for his ability to ‘build’ a winner year after year in all levels of play.  During those years, Linwood led his teams to four ASA National tournaments, two Eastern Area tournament, and six Regional Championships.  Along the way, his teams won over twenty Church tournament titles and twelve consecutive Portsmouth League titles.  As a player/manager, Linwood was on the winning side some 3,700 times with 500 of those wins coming while he was pitching.  To go along with his player/manager contributions, Linwood umpired over 2,500 ASA games that included both local and regional level play.
