Sam played softball for twenty-five years starting in 1978.  He played on teams such as Mary Jane, Bethel Baptist, Clancy’s Steele, Cook’s Moving, SCAT Security and London Bridge Baptist.  During those years, Sam played in eighteen National tournaments where he was on the All-Star teams ten times and the homerun leader six times.  His teams won three National tournaments with nine top ten finishes.  He attended sixteen State tournaments winning twelve and fourteen Regional tournaments, winning ten.  Teams he played with also had two Metro wins and sixteen City League Championships.  During his career, he received 20 MVP awards.
