Legends (Fast-pitch)
Inducted 2004
Dave McCrickard played fast-pitch softball from 1954 through 1962 for a total of nine years. Dave was a first team All-Star each year in the Wythe Street Major Softball League including league MVP in 1960. He was considered to be one of the best fast-pitch defensive outfielders that ever played in the Tidewater area. As a pitcher in baseball, Dave won twenty straight games with his Manly’s team. Softball teams he played for were Hagwood Cleaners, Bootsie’s, and Parker Open Air Market. All were league champions. Dave was a feared batter who could hit a single or a homerun and was in the middle of every rally by his team. From 1963 through 1986, he played slow-pitch softball and had a lifetime batting average over .600. |
