Paul Lipscomb
Player
Inducted 1986
Paul’s softball career started in 1964 with the old Meer’s Steak House Team and continued through 1976 when he played with Paint Supply from Portsmouth. During the course of the years, Paul was named the All-Star second-baseman for the old Metro League with a career batting average of over .500, with the teams that he was playing for participating in ASA Regional tournaments every year from 1971 to 1983. In addition, Paul played in four ASA National tournaments (1972-1975) with Cee Bass Realty, Atlantic Sales, and Book of Knowledge. He was also named to five All-Tournament teams. When the ‘Lip’ was talked about by players, umpires, coaches and spectators, it is with respect and one thinks of the top caliber teams like O&R Construction, Cee Bass Realty, Atlantic Sales, Book of Knowledge, C. Roy Kelly and Merchant and Farmers’ Bank. Paul was at the top of Tidewater softball as one of the best infielders ever to play the game. |
