A nineteen-year softball career saw Richard play in three ASA Major slow-pitch tournaments and eight ASA Regional tournaments.  Richard started his career in 1967 and finally called it to a close in 1985.  During that time, Richard played on such great teams as Cee Bass Realty, House of Carpet, Atlantic Sales, 4400 Club and the Hall of Fame Virginia Door team.  While with these teams, Richard was named to six All-Tournament teams.  He was tournament home-run champion four times, Best Outfielder nine times and was voted Most Valuable Player in twelve tournaments.  To top this off, Richard batted over .600 lifetime.
