Richard started playing in 1967 at the age of 15. He primarily played in the Tidewater Church Leagues. The majority of his time was with the Mt. Pleasant Mennonite team which was a 2005 team selection in the TVASA Hall of Fame. He also played with Eastminister Presbyterian and First Church of Nazarene a 1997 Team selection in the TVASA Hall of Fame. He has since been playing in the Tidewater Senior League for the past 8 years. While with Mt. Pleasant Mennonites he played in two Nationals.
Tournament action has included numerous All Tournament Team selections as an infielder and outfielder. He has received 2 MVP awards along with 2 Best Defensive Player honors. His most notable honor was selection as All Tournament team 3rd basemen at the National Church Tournament in 1976.
Lifetime batting average is somewhere above .500. With 43 years experience at the top level of the game no one has worked harder or exhibited more passion for the game than Richard Kephart.
