Robert ‘Bobby’ Moye *

Umpire

Inducted 1988

Although Bobby was selected for induction to the Hall of Fame as an umpire, he played the fast-pitch game from 1940 to 1959 with such teams as Pepsi Cola and Duncan-Gifford making numerous All-Star teams along the way.  From 1948 to 1988, Bobby was an ASA umpire both in leagues and tournaments.  He was one of the few ‘umps’ that could work his three or four games a night and not hear a dissenting word from either bench.  During his umpire career, Bobby worked three ASA Regional tournaments and the Men’s Class A Industrial National tournament in 1975.  Bobby helped organize the TVASA Umpires’ Association and was the first president of the Metro Norfolk Umpires’ Association in 1972.  At the time of his induction, Bobby held the record of working fifteen straight C.A.C. tournament championships from 1960 to 1974.
