The Travelers

The “Travelers,” as they were known, were formed in 1965 and twenty-one years later were still the dominant women’s softball team at the Major level in Tidewater.  The Travelers participated in six ASA National tournaments with the best finish being 10th place.  In the 1970 Nationals held in Parma, Ohio, the Travelers executed a triple play in a game against the Motown Soul Sisters.  On the local level, the Travelers hosted the Women’s Regionals in 1977 and won the Regional title in 1978.  In addition, the Travelers won three of the four Tidewater Softball Championships.
