Virginia Door Softball
Team
Inducted 1985
In 1968, the Virginia Door Softball Team came upon the Tidewater softball scene and for the next six years dominated area softball like no team before or since. The ‘Door,’ as everyone called them, played in four National tournaments (finishing seventh in 1973 at Cleveland, Ohio), six Regional tournaments, and won a total of fifty-one Major tournaments. They are the only team to ever win the C.A.C. tournament five times. In its six years of existence, the ‘Door’ went from great base-hitting and good defense, to power-hitting and great defense, while all along keeping its closeness as a team intact – another of its trademarks.
