Wesley Walker’s career started in 1963 and continued through 1993 for a total of thirty-one years. During that time, Wesley won many MVP awards including the prestigious Chesapeake Athletic Club’s award as the best player in their tournament in 1965. Wesley played in ten Metro tournaments and four Central Atlantic Regional tournaments. He played with the Virginia Beach Piledrivers in the Men’s Major Tournament in Detroit in 1970 and with Virginia Door in the Men’s Major Tournament in Cleveland in 1971. While playing with the Senior Citizens’ team, he was in two Men’s State tournament and one Co-Ed State tournament. Although Wesley batted over .500 and could hit the long ball, he was better known as one of the area’s best fielding shortstops, most notably his quick release with an accurate throw. |
