Dizzy has been involved coaching and playing softball since 1966. In his initial season he received the Coach's trophy and 5 Tournament MVP awards.
His teams have won over 10 Newport News City Championships. He has finished 2nd in 2 State Championships in 1979 and 1985, He competed in 2 World Championships finishing 2nd in 1984. His team won a National Invitation Tournament in 1992. In Senior competition his team was World Senior Cup Champions in 2003 and 2007, along with State Championships each season and a 4th place finish at the 2004 Championships.
His overall achievements are to many to list, as these were only to name a few. He continues coaching and playing today and has claimed at least one World/National Title in the Senior Division since 2002.
